No grit-sand blasting

My newly purchase blast cabinet seems to go air bound and not producing grit. Do I have a lack of air intake or source of air? It works initially, then sporadic..how can I correct this? Thx

#1 You have to have enough media in the well to cover the pick-up tube.
#2 Make sure your gun is connected up tightly to the pick-up hose and that the tip is not worn out and is installed correctly. Inspect it carefully and understand how it will properly siphon up the media.
#3 You will need about 80 psi minimum input air pressure to make it work well and siphon the media properly.

be sure your blast media is dry, you may need to screen it if the are large particles in it, and be sure your compressor air is dry.

Probably the same as mine. I use glass beads and the pickup tube along the bottom would pack up with media real quick. Maybe it would work better with coarse media like aluminum oxide because the air would flow through it better. It needs air flowing through the tube to carry the media. I drilled four or five 1/8 holes down the sides of the tube and tapped the end hole for 1/8 NPT. A 1/8 street ell and 3 inch nipple in the end to get it above the sand level. The side holes are perpendicular to the nipple. It works a lot better. I also had to calk all the joints with sealer, those beads can find the smallest openings.

That should tip you off that it's not getting sufficient air volume. Assuming your compressor is big enough to keep up and has a large enough tank to handle the demand, you probably need to use a shorter or larger hose.

I have to back flush mine when doing a lot of blasting. out your finger over the tin and pull the trigger or push the pedal and black flush the pickup tube
