This little mucholluc eager beaver that
I have is a nice running saw for light
work but if you let it sit for a few days
or a week you can't start it because the
bar oil gets in the motor some how and
you can't turn it over because it is
hydraulic. What is a guy have to do to
fix this or is this little saw going to
be junk now. I sure hope not it is a nice
little saw and like it alot. Any help on
this guys. Thanks.

My BIL brought me one like that to get running for him! I don't see how it can happen, but the cylinder was full of heavy oil! I got it running, but it is a strange little saw, a Pro-Mac 51, and I think it should go in a dumpster.

Thanks for the reply but it's bar oil. Iv cut up a small tree from wind damage and let sit were I had to take the spark plug out and the oil was new and run out over a pan for a hour or so then turn it over a bunch and it spits it out enf so you can start it.

Seems to me there must be a crack in the bar oil reservoir into the crank case. If so, a solvent cleaning and drying session, followed by a liquid tank liner might seal it. (keeping the outlet hole open!!) Jim

Mike (ne ohio) is right, It's virtually impossible for bar oil to get into the cylinder. Bar oil has its own reservoir and the oil is run through a small gear pump directly to the chain and bar.
I have seen many times where the gas evaporates and leaves a heavy oil in the carb.

I think I found it. The saw (probably) has a crankcase powered pulse chain oiler. there is a known issue that allows back flow through a defective/failed diaphram. This allows bar oil into the crankcase. New oiler pumps are available on line. Jim

Thanks Jim, as usual, you came up with a very good explanation of the problem. I'm going to tell my BIL that I could spend $50 on his saw, then it might run, but it would still only be a $20 chainsaw!

Thanks for the info on this saw. I cut some today with it and it smokes bad from the oil and when the oil tank went dry the saw ran with out much smoke and was running better. This little saw has a hand pump on it for oiling the chain and I don't know if it does it also buy the motor. Thanks guys.
