STIHL 038 AV CHAINSAW NOT OILING CHAIN BAR

My Stihl 038 AV saw has stopped oiling the chain bar.
I think im pointing to the oil pump.

Im not 100% certain, but im thinkin these two plastic gears are not lining up,bigger pump gear is not lined up with drive gear, so the pump is not being turned. Could this be my problem?

I see the second picture fine. If those two gears are not meshing, I would agree with your diagnosis.

There's a good chance that the only thing holding the gear to the shaft of the oiler is friction. I'd take a chance and put a seal driver or your 1/2" drive socket on the end of the gear so it is close to the center so you don't break the gear and tap it gently with a small hammer making sure that the gear teeth are meshing.

Those things wear over time. I had the same problem with an 028. You have to make sure you get the matching parts, the 028 had 3 or 4 different combos, none of which would work for long without the matching parts.

Looks like that model has the adjustable flow too like my 032 has. Screw on bottom with + and - sign. Did you try adjusting it ?

Yes Mike we turned the screw, started the saw but it did not pump oil.

Your saw is different from my 034, so I?m looking at a 031 oil pump info, which may be like yours, is the pump drive pi? on the clutch cover plate broken? Just something to check.
