Kubota makes it easy to work on mower deck.

Look to the left for a hand crank jack .

Pretty slick setup. But for what Kubota charges for their mowers, they should also include a midget with an impact wrench so you don't have to get dirty yourself.

Humm soon be FIVE years and 165 hours of mowing with my Cub Cadet TANK and I've never been under the deck to work on ANYTHING. I've got about a dozen other ways to lift the frt of the deck if I ever do need to work on it. I used to sharpen the blades on my old IH Cub Cadet mower decks every 4-5 mowings of my 2.3 acres but this new deck mows SO much better, blades are still sharp. And I'm not good about picking up twigs, branches, and limbs, hit them often enough with the mower blades and they disappear. I still have my Cub Cadet 982 with 50 inch deck that took me 4 hours to mow with. Tank has 54 inch deck, takes no longer than 2-1/2 hours to mow, 2 hrs 10 minutes a couple times. Got some stump grinding and pruning to do, think I can get to 1-1/2 hours!

Grasshopper has the best I've seen yet. Just flip a switch and the deck tilts up twice as high as the Kubota.

A lot of the lesser known brands with castors in back are made so that you pull a couple of pins and the whole deck rotates to vertical position. To me that looks a bit crude and still difficult to service the blades.--------------------Loren

I've never worked under the deck of a Kubota ZTR, but, last summer I installed a new battery in one. Good Grief! It took three hands and a gallon of sweat to do that simple job. I hope the owner sells the mower or I die before he asks me to do that again.

I have a chainfall on a beam dolly in my shop so lifting the deck isn't a problem, but I like the floating front axle! Our JD is a stiff front, doesn't float over a rough lawn very well.

Mark I think if you compare model for model, feature to feature, like water cooled diesel engine, shaft drive deck, hydraulic deck lift, true hydra-static drive, you will actually find KUBOTA is very competitively priced if not cheaper than most.
