Hello,

I was given this saw, a year or two ago. First time it got used. Dead standing blackk locust. It got a work out.

The second tree I used my old Mcculluch.

Shucks Larry.
I have been thinking about sending you a piece of green black locust to try a spoon.
Green locust turns great on a lathe.

Hello Shaun Wallace,

It sure does. That is an Homelite as you can see. It has reed valve timing and a whole lot of compression.

I have a Sears saw made by Homelite with the same system, and it is still working good,

Hello Ron

You are probably right, early 70's I think. I put on it my 16" Mcculloch 7/32 full chisel chain on it, and it runs it just fine.

I use a 40 to 1 mix on it, even 50 t0 1 would work too. I will post a picture for you,

Guido.

Hello Ron,

I thought it was a Sears saw..... Wrong! I gave one just like it to my brother in law, and I thought it was a Sears and yellow?

Now you got me thinking, I will HAVE to ask him

I've cut quite a bit of black locust over the years. One thing that always puzzled me is how long it lasts as fence posts yet I don't think I ever cut one down that didn't have ants in it.

Hello Ozlander,

Does it look like this one? This one has a 16" 7/32 chain I put on.
It had a 5/32 originally.

It makes good chips with that full chisel chain, the bar is 20+

have that saw in sears logo. 12 or 14 inch bar, I think 12 little skinny chain. For trimming it is hard to beat. Light, fast response, small chain glides through the wood if sharp. And it will out cut a bigger saw on any thing 10 inches or less from my experience. Plus the fact that it was free makes it my favorite saw. Saw shop wanted $100.00 to check it over put a plug in it along with a fuel filter and a carb kit. Friend brought it home bought a replacement saw and offered it to me. Tried to return it after I finished fixing it but he would not take it so a good deal for me.

I have one exactly like the Dayton, but mine says Lil-Jon, bought it from a Jonsered dealer in 1972. At that time Sears was selling the same saw as a Craftsman, but I'm pretty sure they were all made by Poulan. I suppose the Jonsered dealers had customers for small saws, but the factory didn't want to make them, so they made a deal with Poulan. It's my oldest saw, have 4 Jonsereds, use them all!
