Has anyone ever installed one of these in a quartz light? I have one on the fron of the garage that quartz lamps don't seem to last very long, and use a lot of power.

We use one of those Lamps and like the LED lamp .

I've never tried one, but you can never tell the quality of an LED.

Some do well, some are poorly made and don't last at all.

None of them like heat, and enclosed inside the rain tight enclosure there is a good chance it will build a considerable amount of heat. Before you buy, take a good look at the lamp sockets. Many times short lamp life is caused by burned contacts in the socket, especially if the ends of the lamp are discolored.

I have installed a couple of the LED replacement fixtures shaped like the quartz outdoor flood lights. They have done really well, lasting a long time.

Typically what I've found, if the lamp or fixture is sold at a legitimate brick and mortar store, they have probably done at least some homework to prevent mass comebacks.

Buying from a dollar store, online in a plain white box from China, flea market... Generally you're taking a big chance!

I haven't looked in a while, but I have never see a cob style LED for sale at a brick and mortar store. I have tried many from Ebay and have had 100% early failure with them. I think it is possible to make a "good" cob light, I just haven't found it yet.

I was just wondering if anyone made an LED replacement bulb for that style of fixture, I need to replace a bulb at church. I know the old quartz lamps were very sensitive to oil from your fingers getting on the glass- always used my handkerchief to install the new bulbs.

AS for new LEDS, I bought a ten pack of eight foot LED fixtures, 10,000 Lumens each. Able to string four fixtures together, boxed and delivered for $211 from Amazon. I removed five fluorescent fixtures from my shop area (16X16) total of 16 four foot tubes. I strung up eight of the LEDs, and can barely stand the brightness. I found stuff on my workbench I had lost years ago!!
