I got it's twin brother, was found on top of a new Chevy conversion van about twenty years ago. The guy next to me at work was cleaning it up for delivery, sold it to me for a few bucks, nice tool.

Looks identical to the Klein #1006. They used to come with a red and black handle, but now both are black. Wonder who made them for whom.....

I don't know what all Thomas and Betts does, but I do know that they are a major supplier of all kinds of electrical cable. A company that I used to work for bought tons of it from them.

I have a pair of those that are stamped of flat steel and 4 holes for cutting bolts, with a place between the handles for chasing threads, 32 & 24 threads per inch.

Are we still "allowed" to use crimp connectors?

It appears the world has changed and now some twisted wire solder filled heat shrink apparatus has superseded their use or approval.

For anyone that has even tried to solder old automotive electrical wires with the need to scrape and use of the rosin core flux lead rich solders to get common adhesion, I wonder what or how well these low temp leadless solder encapsulated slip shrink tube affairs perform.

I understand the delicacy needed to maintain the new computer controlled systems on vehicles and equipment.

But many years a mechanic. Electrical technician. Auto aftermarket systems and stereos installer. A good solid dimple crimper is invaluable.

Those styles are great provided the mass width of the dimpler is not to great. It needs to be just right to penetrate with the powers of the hand and not too narrow to allow the dimpling crimp to cut through the plastic or metal tube and mechanically weaken the repair.

those are nice

someone always has a better idea

but those are nice

interested in Thomas and Bets

and was amazed by their crimpers
