Batterie Adapters

Hello,

These adapters work real good. Had these for years, use them if my shop flash light, with lithium batteries the light is bright at any temperature. But in the summer I switch to Nmh.

They would work well with C or D trail powered trail cams and lithium batteries, and other applications where it gets real cold,

Guido.

I would think that a D battery would have more power available than a AA battery, so why use an adapter to put a AA battery in place of a D battery??

Why else would a D battery be so much larger? Given the same level of technology, a larger battery should have more power. Either more current or for a longer length of time - not necessarily more voltage.

What, you hate him too?

he uses something he finds good enough to share

Why do you have to be such a negative ninny

Voltage of a AAA or AA or C or D are all 1.5 volts but yes them for lack of better terms the AAA amps will not last as long as the amps in say a D cell sort like the CCA ratings of a car battery

How many batteries are in there? If 2 in series it would be 3V. If 3, it would be 4.5V. It might burn your bulbs out. Explain, please.

They are very useful because they allow you to keep just one size of battery in stock jimg.

AA batteries are usually available on special as well seeing that they are probably the most popular size for small appliances so it makes economic sense as well .
I use them on my farm , nothing is more frustrating as not having the right sized cells or probably worse finding the D or C cells you've had sitting in the drawer as reserves for three years are DOA.

They are wired in parallel RLP , the voltage is the same , the available current more .

There are very small 'AAA' type batteries used in garage remote controls , I forget what size they are called but they are about half that of a AAA and are 12 volts .If you dismantle these they are made up of a stack of button cells in series .
There was one type of six volt Lantern battery available some time ago , it was filled with 1.5 volt AA batteries wired in parallel , buying one of these and taking the cells out was a cheap way of getting lots of batteries .

Hello Russ,

One battery fits inside the adapter. That one is for a D size. The voltage will be still 1.5 volts. The lithium battery would be good for extreme temps.

Like I said some game cameras with the lithium batteries and the adapters would be one application. With the adapters that would work an any camera with just a bunch of AA batteries. You could also use any other type of AA batteries, rechargeable or not, as they are all the same size

Guido.

Hello Ralph,

My mistake! One AA fits inside the adapter. Then you will have a D size battery shell. Same voltage but with the adapter it will power C and D type devices. Not the same capacity obviously, but may get you out of a jam as Charles pointed out, Thanks Charles,

Guido.

Hello Jim,

I use the adapter for my old flash light that takes 3 D size batteries. AA Nmh rechargeable, of course they do not have the same capacity, but I buy them once. I send no Carbon pile batteries to the dump. Might be a small contribution , but have been doing it since the NiCads came out.

I still have 2 D size 4400 Mah batteries that I originally used for that flash light, but I let the smoke out of one. I may still by then again, as the lasted me more then 20 years, and the other 2 are still taking a charge.

Piacere mio Guido. :)

The adapters we have here allow three AAA cells to act as one C cell and two or three from memory [ it's been a while since I changed batteries ] AA's as one D .

Hello Charles,

Yes there are many combinations or cell configurations. There are, or used to be, battery powered devices that I have seen, that had two or three cells in parallel for capacity, the these cells would be in series for the required voltage.

They do it now with Lithium batteries, laptops for one.

Cold here now 16* F. I am going to throw another log on the fire CIAO,

Guido.

Standard AA, C & D are the same length.
C size battery is not used much any more.
I have a stationary bike that uses C batteries, so I used some PVC pipe to make adaptors to hold AA batteries.

Hello Dusty,

I would have done the same, but I bought 4 adapters for $2 or $3, so cheap enough may be 10 years ago?

Guido.

Hello old,

Those lithium batteries will outlast alkaline batteries and are great for trail cameras or security cameras. They will work from -40 up to 140+ degrees F.
