Handheld shower head

Good evening, Steve: Would that be a device for a partially-disabled person? If so, there are stores that carry items for various health and disability problems. A store near me is connected to the local hospital; they have walkers, walking canes, special furniture, bathroom and shower devices, many things to be used by partly disabled folks. Just sayin'...

I've had a couple of Delta In2uition combo hand held shower/rain head.

I really like them. The hand held part has several settings from gentle wide pattern to a pulsing high pressure mode.

Only drawback is the hose can not be twisted or it won't hang right, wants to fall out of the holder. Other than that I don't have any trouble with unless someone twists it.

There are other designs along the same line. You might want to look at some displays, see how well they mount and hang.

The versions that have rubber or silicon nipples that protrude from the head give a very pleasant shower but don't last . The orifices open up with use and the pressure drops dramatically . After more use the shower becomes a dribble and is virtually useless .

We bought one of these 3 years ago. Still going strong.

HUH? INTERESTING comment!

I've had just the opposite experience with a shower head with "rubber or silicon nipples".

The wife bought it a few years ago, dunno the brand ennymore and when the crap in our high-priced "quality" city water clogs 'em up I massage the rubber nozzles a bit and they shed the crap from the overpriced water and function "as new".

So far, haven't noticed the "dribble effect".

I would not buy any plumbing fixture that was not Delta or Kohler. Cost more, but worth it, I think.

Regardless of what you get, before you even turn the water on for the first time just open the head up and remove the stupid water-saver flow restrictor else you will only get a small "government approved" stream! They are easy to remove and you will get full flow with it out of there.

We researched this extensively a number of years ago when writing specifications for bathroom accessibility projects. What we came up with, at a reasonable price point, was a "Moen 8346 Commercial Pressure Balance Shower Set". After having hundreds of them installed over the last ten years there have been zero complaints and zero failures. You won't find them on the shelf at the local big box store and probably would have to be ordered from your local plumbing supply house. Key to finding them is the word "commercial", they aren't in the regular Moen residential books. They aren't "cheap" but they also aren't unaffordable; somewhere in the $250-$275 range.

Best I have used is Danze. Every water fixture in my house is Danze. Replaced a bunch of Deltas. Danze uses
ceramic components which never wear out. No experience with Kohlers but I love their sinks, water closets, etc.

First thing I do to those dribbling things is to dissemble and remove the flow restrictor .
I tend to also do that to hotel room showers .

I like this one from Delta. Not very high end but not the cheapest, either. Installed one in my old house and again here when I redid the bathroom. Only thing I should mention is that I expected all the nozzles would be in play when the shower was running--both hand-held part and the big fixed shower-head. No, it's one or the other.

(quoted from post at 15:50:29 01/15/20) Looking for a good quality handheld shower head, Thanks

Delta's shower heads are very popular. I'm using Briout myself and it's pretty good. I use it to replace the shower head in the kid's bathroom. Briout is not very wide, it is easier for them to use and of high quality, and the long hose allows me to clean hard-to-reach places.

I have a mid grade Delta and it works well. The 2 things I like are the "metal" hose which doesn t get twisted up and that it has a button to stop the water flow to the head. I didn t know it had the button to interrupt the water flow, but I use it all the time since it s there.

We currently have a Wally World Peerless that is similar to the one RedMF40 posted. We've had it for over a year and so far it's standing up better than the EcoSpa we did have. I did replace the hose with a longer one we found on Amazon.

Delta and Kohler have different qualities and of course the price tag goes along with it. If your pocketbook can handle it go to a dedicated plumbing dealer for good quality. Some of the quality plumbing wholesalers have a show room where you can check out the fixtures. The price tag might easily be double Menards price but when you pick it up and play with it you will feel the difference right away. That said, ours is some off brand high priced shower head we got from a vendor at the county fair 20 years ago and it still works like new. It has the armor covered hose and it is the original hose. When we first had this head it didn't take me long to drill out the water saver orifice.

I was going to buy a new Kohler toilet from Home Depot but found out that the new power piston flush system can only be purchased from Kohler if it goes bad.

A toilet is not something you want out of commission while you are waiting for parts.
