Joining the new thing

That could be fun. Just use the proper material for what you want to do.

The plant I retired from hired the HR directors son right out of college and bought a new printer for him to make industrial parts with. That didn't work out too well. The plastic made some pretty parts but none of them lasted 24 hours. I know nothing about printing but at least I know you have to use the proper material for the intended use.

First choice would be Parametric Creo 6.0, second is Inventor by nnalert, Third is Solid works. If you have a 4H club and would be willing to teach them, You might be able to download the soft ware free. (you could not use it to make money, but personal parts no issue. Jim

Most budget machines use PLA plastic as standard and some can do other materials like ABS. Sometimes a different nozzle or extruder is needed.

PLA is fine for non-stressed things like gadgets or toys. Also good for some prototyping of items that ultimately will be molded or machined. If the prototype needs to have reasonable strength for testing purposes then ABS is a better choice.

I am fascinated by how advanced you are in your hobby machining . Keep posting what you do on the printer please. Very amazing and interesting !
