grease guns..... never used one... what's it like
they don't prime
getting the spring loaded handle to pull out and latch
spring loaded handle plunger lets go about 1/2 way through refilling
the big tube threads cross thread or are stripped out
that crumpled or bent ring on the cartridge is now stuck and sliced my finger trying to catch the lip and pull it out
it just won't prime
never goes through the fitting just oozes around it
just keeps on oozing grease everywhere just sitting there
just gets that crap all over me and everything else
red white blue green like I am supposed to clean it out and get a do over every time I grease something different

Third hand
an extra hand to hold the stupid thing while the first holds the coupler on the fitting and the second pumps the lever

grease guns at least I started my own thread and didn't just tag on to the other guys

Open the wallet and buy a battery operated grease gun and a LocknLube coupler. You then can do the whole process with one hand. Lock the coupler on the fitting then pull the trigger on the gun. Done. The battery operated guns are easy to load also.

For someone who frequently adds quite sarcastic replies on other posts you display remarkably thin skin.

I had a first. He grease in Dewalt grease
Gun get passed plunger. So when I pulled handle back a large amount of grease came out the plunger side. I'm thinking perhaps something not right with grease tube. So when I finished I pulled the handle back.

To keep the loading handle all of the way back take a piece of PVC pipe and cut a large enough groove in it. Pull the handle back and slip it over the rod. Now you can put in a new tube of grease and screw everything together. On the business end of the gun there should be a bleeder button to let air out. That should "burp" the air out. Those Milwaukee 18volt grease guns are fantastic. Check around on Ebay.

Guess you need more time spent ans and OILER on a Drag line in days gone by when you had to do your own pumping and refills . My grease gun is pushen 40 years old and still greasing , nope not into the new fangled stuff that needs a battery that goes dead on the first fitting while you are folded up under something .

I don't see a problem.
Pull the handle to the rear and slide it in the lock slot.
Unscrew the top and remove old tube.
Remove plastic cap from new tube and slide it in the body.
Remove the pull tab top from the new tube of grease.
Screw on the grease gun top and wipe any leakage off.
Release the the handle from the lock slot.
Use grease gun.
I don't see a problem.

If only that lock slot would lock the plunger rod a little more securely. How many times have I accidentally bumped the plunger rod out of the locked position while I am trying to start the barrel threads.

Obviously you have never used a Milwaukee. They make a 12 amp-hour battery. It's big but on the half high-torque impact, you can change a set of truck tires with one battery.

Yes! That's what taught me to never point the barrel in my direction.

I have one with a worn lock slot. A 16 penny ring shank nail fits perfectly alongside the plunger rod when its in the locked position. It keeps it from popping out of the slot and wasting a tube of grease [and my patience].

DCARP - Buying a battery grease gun has never crossed my mind. The pistol grip gun with the adjustable angle coupler to get to difficult zerks worked for me in the 1960's & '70's when Dad was farming, used it when I only greased my car & truck, now I've got 4 lawn mowers, two Farmall's with loaders, use about two tubes of grease a year. Last new mower I bought had the zerks for the spindle bearings squeezed between the deck housing and spindle pulleys, ain't no way your Lok-n-Lube coupler would ever fit on those zerks, had to buy a new lever action grease gun with a flexible hose and straight coupler just for the mower. Wife's new car and my new truck doesn't have ANY zerks on them, my old '96 F250 4x4 I had up to 12 zerks from the 3 it came with.

DR EVIL, Sometimes space is a problem with the locknload and only using 2 tubes a year, buying a battery powered one doesn?t sound very necessary.
During haying season I use 1 or 2 tubes a week and all the zerks have room for the LocknLoad, my setup saves me lots of time and effort.

Co-worker bought a Dewalt unit and it would leak when he filled it from the shop gun. Found a video that showed how to reverse the O-ring/gasket in the barrel and that fixed the leakage.

I usually open the vise about a half inch and pull the rod while using the vise as an anchor for the barrel.

If i get a tough tube to pull out a channel lock pliers will grab them better than my fingers but usually use a rag to protect my fingers cause yes the are sharp.

When priming screw the tube on about half way maybe two turns then release the spring handle. Then screw the tube on the rest of the way using the threads to compress the grease in place. Some tubes are just tough especially the moly greases. With those i will loosen the barrel then pull the spring follower handle and release the spring tension forcefully a couple times to get the grease to compress then screw the barrel back while pumping grease.

I really like both my lincoln gun and dewalt guns. I don't use my manual ones anymore. Batteries last a long time on a grease gun.
