Grease Guns

Where and how do you guys store your grease guns to keep them from dripping all over the floor. I was getting my loader tractor ready for the upcoming snow season and when I went to use my grease gun it would drip oil all over the floor. It seems no mater how I store my grease guns I end up with oil spots all over the floor. Somebody has got to have a good idea to solve this issue.

I guess we never worried about it since they don't seem to drip. On mine I tuck the end back under the top of the mechanism where the hose screws into. Keeps the end out of the dirt and no mess that way.
Dad's had a 4 foot hose on it for reaching places that are hard to get to with one guy. Works good and I just hold the end till I'm done so it doesn't drag in the dirt. For storage Just lay it across the 15 gallon can the grease pump is in. It doesn't seem to be a problem with dripping either.

I use an old mail box, door broke off. I mounted it to wall and put guns in let handles hook on edge. I also place an old sock over tube, everyone (almost) have old socks. joe

Thanks Ellis that's a great idea. I will start saving those plastic bags. Better to repurpose those instead of just throwing them in the trash.

I have not seen good grease leak. example winter grease used in summer time. or cheap junk.

My 18V Dewalt has never leaked either, no rubber cap used, just open. JD SDpolyurea grease. I store the Dewalt in the case it came in, never had to clean the case.

Since I got my Dewalt battery powered grease gun I haven't touched a manual lever gun since.
That said store the grease gun with the lever down that way the plunger has the hole blocked to prevent grease from free flowing.
Also get some better grease than isn't so thin.

Read the others. Plastic market bag and also try this. Make a wooden box for
the wall large enough to hold a couple of guns. Lay a doggie puddle pad in the
bottom. Nice and clean and abortion of puddles. Make the box just deep enough
so you can just reach over and grab one. Right now I must have ten grease guns.
If I see a good Lincoln at the flea market it follows me home. Bought an almost
new one a couple of months ago. Still had half a tube of grease in it. Cleaned
it out and put a fresh tube in. Works great!

Since i am and old fart i have old things and my old Armstrong grease gun is still working and the grease i use does not DRIP OIL , that grease gun was bought new at a long gone discount store here for 4.95 and has pumped a truck load of grease thru it over the years . No batterys to tend to change the hose out every so often and replace the end once in a blue moon. And way fasater then the fancy battery powered ones and i can FEEL when a fitting is not taking grease correctly and tend to it .

I'm with you on using an armstrong for sealed bearing and zerks where you want limited grease. I've got both because there are zerks that wear my arms out holding over my head and squeezing 60 times for 8 zrks that it doesn't make any difference if the grease squirts out, that's where my pneumatic comes in handy. Instead of a half hour and tired arms it's a 5 minute job.

Basically what I do. An old sock over the nozzle end and I hang them either by the handle in a 5 gal bucket or off a wire between studs.
