Ford automatic locking hubs

Newly acquired 2015 F-250. I checked out the locking hubs and they're working fine but the selector dials are stuck. I took the hubs off and separated the cap to try to free them up. I managed to pry the plastic disk out but could not figure out how to get the dial out of the cap. Some WD and PB got them to move but still very stiff. I know it shouldn't be necessary to lock them as long as they work OK. Can somebody explain how to get them apart to clean and lube?

I watched that one a couple of times, Tony. His selector dial works easy. I need to get the dial out of the cap.

Can't help with the lube part.

But I had an F350 with stiff hubs. Cut notches in the end of a piece of PVC pipe that would fit the tabs on the hub, gave me some leverage to twist them.

The selector must be lined up correctly for it to come apart.

Thanks MM. That's the earlier hub, but I will look for something similar on mine. Didn't notice any marks when I had them off.
