Generator won?t start

Not sure if this is posted in the right place. I have a small generator,All Power with a 6.5 hp engine. When I last used it I ran all the fuel out.
It will fire with a shot of starting fluid but that?s all. Fuel is getting to the fuel on off valve. Any suggestions? BTW I know it?s a cheap generator.

If you feel confident enough to tear into the carb thats likely where the problem is. A little varnish or gum is all it takes.

Many carburetors have a small bolt in the bowl. Take that bolt out and gas should run out. If it doesn t have a bolt take the bowl off . Its the one in the center of the bowl. If there is no gas there- just lighty tap the carb with a screwdriver handle . That should make it work. ( The needle may be stuck not letting gas in engine)

on some of the small carbs the brass bolt that holds the bowl on is also used for the main jet, take it off and blow it clean, also take a torch tip cleaner to it as it has a small orfice that gets plugged.
