aluminum ladder-24ft. has been sitting outside and is hard to slide to extend. what kind of lubricant should I use to get it to slide more easily? thanks in advance.

Wing recommends Pledge spray furniture polish on their ladders. I'm not sure whether or not you need to use the lemon-scented stuff.

First thing I would recommend, take the two halves apart and clean the interlocking rails with some barkeepers friend. Will remove all of the oxidation. Then spray with what you like. That oxidation is actually the same as sandpaper.

2X on pull it apart and clean it, then look for rough surfaces or where it is binding. Also check the rope, pulley, and the spring loaded latches to make sure they are moving freely. Worst case would be if one or both sections are bent.

I use unscented Pledge on my quads, don't use the lemon unless you like swatting bees from the top of a ladder.....

Hopefully you didn't learn that the hard way.

Or you're BIL backs over it with his truck. Then he didn't want to pay for it. You left it there, it is ten years old, it was in the grass, it is too much money, etc.
