Electric Hedge Shears

I'm looking for an inexpensive electric hedge shears. What size length and amps is better. Always done them by hand but no as good shape as I used to be. Thanks

I use a $30 electric Black and Decker Hedge Hog (around 14 inch blade?) and a $100 two cycle powered gas trimmer with about a 17 inch blade. Both have their uses.

Some times I put the light weight B&D to fit on a 6 foot extension from a Remmington electric pole saw. That works well for trimming the tops of Amer maple and lilac hedges.

I got a B&D that's 20 years old and still works good. No pigtail. The cord plugs into the handle. Just make sure to keep an eye out or the sparks will fly. BTDT. Good Luck.

If you want inexpensive, go to yard sales.
I have an old craftsman hedge shears. Don't use them enough to worry about wearing them out.

They do like to eat extension cords. Someone recommended putting a 1/2 cpvc pipe over cord.

More amps means more horsepower.

Get a corded one. They outlast the batteries in a battery unit. Just be careful not to cut your cord.

As mentioned, unless you have acres of trimming to do, most any one will get the job done for many years. Just lightly oil the blades before you use them.

We have a 120v B&D. And found that no matter how carful we were we cut the cord. So I bought a B&D 20v Li battery one. We really like it, along with the B&D weed whip that uses the same battery.

I've always put the cord to my hedge clippers over my shoulder then down to the ground, and our first house had about 350 feet of hedges of all kinds. Filled my F150 6-3/4 ft box 2-3 times heaping full and packed down if I trimmed them all. Had over 250 ft of extension cord.

Bought a Homelite think it was gas hedge trimmer. Gassed it up, tried trimming 1 (ONE) bush, would not cut a leaf or twig off at all, drained the gas, cleaned it up and back to the store to get my money back about 2-3 hours later. Blades were formed wrong, no shearing action. Bought B&D corded shears, work fine. First set of hedge trimmers was a Rockwell brand. Bought out by Porter Cable shortly after.

Don't put you hand under the motor to help it push thru what you are cutting... I borrowed a gas model one time it spoiled me enoufh I went and brought one...

It took the fight out of the deal : )
