Replacing brushes B & D sander

To anyone:
I have a Black & Decker #7436 Orbital sander. While trying to get to the gears to lube them, the armature came out, so brushes came out, too. I need info on how to keep the brushes in place while I slip the armature back into its top bearing. Somebody must know a simple trick to hold the brushes, please reply if possible. Thanks much!!

Bend a little "C" out of a good size paper clip. make it just fit over the armature. Use it to hold the brushes in the guides. Then assemble. Remove it by putting the
opening at the shaft before full insertion. Jim

I've used toothpicks and tape and paper clips as long as you can get them out after installation ???

Thanks, John and all replies:
I think the problem I am seeing is there would be no way to remove my temporary brush gadget after I put the armature/commutator back in. Oh, Well!! I used another method to do my sanding yesterday, so my B & D may get replaced by a 'cheapo" sometime in future. End of story, thanks for the replies!

I wish I was there. There has to be a simple way to do it. How are they put together at the factory? I
haven't had one yet that I couldn't get together. In a Chrysler gear reduction starter, the tool stayed in
the starter. Is there a washer of some kind in there?
