Mower V belts

What is a good source for riding mower belts?

I've got a Husqvarna RZ5424 zero turn and I need to replace the deck drive belt and I'll replace the hydro drive belt while I'm at it. Look them up and prices range all over. I just don't want to buy a piece of crap belt that will last. I know I can get the Husq branded belt from whereever but those seem marked up to me, but I'll do it for a dependable belt.

My experience with mower belts, you're better off buying the factory belt than trying to find something "close enough" and saving a few bucks.

It rarely works.

There are Kevlar belts that are some of the toughest and best. They are not cheap. If you go that route, be sure to get the fit right. Many mowers have custom sized belts, just different enough that a standard belt won't work. Best to shop by brand and model application than trying to measure.

If you know the length and width you could try the local auto parts stores, most of them sell mower belts, deck belts etc and if they want to look it up, they should have catalogs that will cross ref your number. You can try your local farm/ag store, if not a big box home improvement store too. Often when you need one you need it now, but if you have time then shop online.

I second the motion to stick with the OEM belt. But if you know the belt is a stock size, the Kevlar belts at TSC are very good.

I buy belts now at Rural King for my mowers. They have two grades of belts with two different prices. You do have to know the size needed or take an old belt with you so you can measure it or compare it with a new one.

I prefer factory OEM belts, be sure and have the make n model and serial number when you head out. HOWEVER in the event such is unavailable or the shop is closed or too far to drive, I have had good luck at Rural King but again you gotta have all the numbers.....

I have a Industrial electric motor shop that I use that matches them up to an industrial belt that holds up longer.

I bought a Toro mower and was breaking belts so bad I thought about getting rid of it. I went through four belts before I got 8 hours on the mower. Then someone suggested the Kevlar belts and I tried one and haven't had any more problems. I get them from Off Road Belts.

Shoot me an e mail sometime. Maybe you can send me a thumb drive (I will have to see how many bytes are required) and I will copy my 700 favorite 50 n 60's Oldies MP3 files and return mail to you.

you will find them priced all over the place,go to a direct dealer and they will usually be cheaper. I probably have those belts in inventory since that is same as Dixon speedztr unit. if you keep belts in line they all will last at least 3 or more years easy. I am still on original belt and the unit is going on its fifth season. from what I see amazom and ebay some highest places you can get from. you say replace drive belt while at it my question is why, if it is still tight no breaks or tears let it go, those very seldom go unless a pulley lets go or you pick up something and it gets into it. been running lawnmower dealership service last eleven years, trying to retire out of it.
