Electric Chainsaws

In the USA, do we have high powered electric chainsaws available?
Any 240 volt, or 120 volt 25 amp saws.

Daught you will find a 220 volt saw. About the biggest 120 volt I have seen were all under 20 amps.

A good battery powered saw such as the Echo 56 volt 14-16" works better. No cords to worry about, very portable and uses the same bar and chain that their comparable gas models use. Plus like all of their products. It comes with a five year warranty..

If you're looking for a corded electric, I bought this one last year. Works GREAT!

My only gripe is that, with the self-sharpening thing that's built into it, the saw comes with a special chain. The specially ground teeth won't last as long as normal teeth. I bought some inexpensive replacement chains off of Amazon that work great, and are sharpened traditionally. Home Depot had (and appears to still have) the best price for the saw.

I have an older battery chainsaw that my Dad had bought after having a pacemaker installed, but haven't used it much. Seems to run out of power too quickly for me. I guess it'd be fine for anything under about 8", but over that drains the battery too fast, IMO. Would probably help if I kept the chain sharper. :p

The chains make a big difference. Many saws, both gas & & & electric, come with with low-kickback safety homeowner chains. We bought one of the Harbor Freight $40 saws and, sure enough, low-kickback means low-cut. But I followed a suggestion on this site and put on one of the non-safety pro chains and that 14? saw cuts like a completely different saw. Yes, you do have to be more careful (I also took the spring out of the aggravating safety switch but I?m the only one who uses it).

I use 120 vac 4 hp 18 inch craftsman. Starting current is 70 amps. My 3500 w RV generator will struggle to start it. Running amps is 15 if you have a sharp chain.

So I make a device to install a diode in series for a second. Makes a soft start, makes generator happy.

The black and decker alligator is a save chainsaw for the BOSS to use. Only draws 4.5 amps.

I just got a flyer in the mail the other day that listed all sorts of cordless electric stuff sthil is selling these days. I had no idea they offered that much stuff. Check out their website for specs. is guess ?

ive got a couple electric saws, but the only use i have for them is in my bucket truck, that allows me to keep one hand free to deflect the branches, when i up in the bucket ive run good gas saws both little and big most of my life, there's nothing like a good sized, well tuned, super sharp gas saw with skip tooth chain for cutting speed and power

You?ve mentioned your soft start box in other posts. Could you show what?s inside it or draw a schematic? Thanks.

I have a Homelite like one in photo but mine has14"bar.It's ok but doesn't cut as fast as my Echo top handle 12"bar or my Stihl MS170 14" bar. One thing you have to be carefull is an electric chainsaw will cut through a Pair oF safety chaps.

I worked with a guy years ago,who had the heavyiest duty saw i have ever seen. It was like a worm drive with a chain saw bar. I think it was German made probably about 10-12 amps 120 volt
