Chain saw chain repair tool! Just came across it today in some of my dad's tools.

I believe one older add for Vise-grip actually touted that the gripping force was a ton or 2000 lbs. In fact I suppose the gripping force may be actually higher than that. Very versatile tool indeed.

Use to make up chain. But never used the Vise Grip rivet tool. Mine clamp in a vise or bolted to a bench.

Since the local hardware make up and stocks premade Oregon chain for just $1.00 an inch for .50, .325 and 3/8. I stopped buying bulk. Hard to beat the ease of walking in and walking out with a new 18" chain for just $18.00.

I've tried using those. I'll take my bench mounted chain breaker and spinner any day! For that matter, I'll take a chisel, punch and hammer over that. I think I still have blood blisters from the one I used. To each their own!
