john deere moco override clutch

I have a 936 moco that has stripped out the override clutch two times. I found a used shaft with joints and everything on ebay for about $200 but it stripped out after cutting about 100 acres. the part number at deere is AE56355 and costs about $950 . It comes as a joint with clutch in it. All I need is the insert clutch part but can't find a part number or anyway to order just that part. Has anyone had this trouble ? The dealer said the rubber mounts on the gear box needs replacement and it could have caused the splines to strip out but really no answer. I hope someone can help me find the insert I need to get back going without breaking the bank !
 
First, you'll have to figure out what company made the driveline.

You didn't mention the driveline series, or the spline size, or the spline count.

Weasler Engineering puts out a catalog of driveline parts, you can download it in .pdf format at the link below.

Look in the "clutch section" (Pages 171 - 185) and see if anything matches what you have. Even then, you will have to buy the whole unit to get the "guts", but if something matches up you will have some alternate part numbers to search for non-DEERE pricing on.

that helps to see what to ask. it is a 20 or 21 spline I know and it shows cat 6 on the john deere part description. i assume that is the size of the yoke to fit in the u-joint ? Nothing I see is the same but make be able to make one work ! thank You
 
I know this wont help much but its only $903 and my local dealer! I bought a PTO shaft thru Deere for my Bushhog cheaper than anywhere else.
 
Doesn't look like a "clutch" at all. U-joint yoke is part of a CV joint.

They like to be GREASED and a lot of it, and some have three zerks and some four! Also, still run them as straight of
an angle as possible.

Would not reuse just part of it. May have to bite the bullet and buy a complete one.
