Greasy rag and electrical tape bandages

Nothing like a tube of crazy glue. Carefully lick your cut clean. Spit works really well. Hold the cut closed and apply a little glue. Wait till it sets. The glue will grow out after a few days. Almost invisible scars.

Old dish towel/shop rag and electrical tape worked until ER folks could take over. Even drove myself there. 15 sutures/stitches later drove myself home. gobble

That is the way dad did it. Cut yourself on our place. You got some gas or diesel poured on it. Then a greasy rag wrap.

Instant Mash Patatoes will stop bleeding.

We carried a box of them on our Tanks in the military. Now they carry Celox in First Aid kits.

My friend's dad did about the same thing. I used to work with him way back when, grease and something to wrap it with. Some kind of tape was always involved. A lot of people don't worry themselves with infection, he was one of them. You do what you can with what you have where you are, until you can get medical help if severe enough to require it.

About 10 years ago, I tore open the inside of my right leg just by rubbing on a stall door latchbolt while climbing down from the skirt on a wall we were setting trusses on. Did not tear my denim jeans, but sure did my leg, one of the nurses suggested safety chaps for chainsaw work, thinking I got nailed by the saw chain. I made some make do bandage and went to me 2nd job for my farmer friend. Sawmill called and said they had a load ready and I did not want to miss that as this farmer was depending on me to run his truck to keep cash flowing in on it. Got the truck loaded, then went to get stitched up.

I had a lady at work one week end who got cut pretty badly. We called for a first responder over the intercom several times, no answer. No managment team member. We held her arm up and pinched the artery to stop the blood. I went to my tool box and got my tube of Super Glue. We applied a good dose and sprayed the activater. The bleeding stopped. When my boss got there he chewed me out. She went to the Company nurse the next morning. The nurse sent word back to me " Good Work"
I worked for Ethicon where we made suture and could not use any of it even if I dared. Now they make CA glue for wound closure at the plant. Sure would have been handy. Dsmythe
