I have a 5 gal gas tank that had old gas left in it and there is a scum on the sides and the bottom. What is a go way to get this out. Will E 85 take it out. Thanks

Brake fluid is my first chose used BF works great... I just cleaned out some old 5 gal plastic gas cans a guy gave me 15 years ago that had dried up gunky fuel in them they cleaned up like new in a week are so... After the BF soak flush them out with water BF is hygroscopic mixes with water...

Several others have told you ...get a few gallons of E-85 and fill the tank to that gunk level. Let it sit a few days. Amazing stuff! It stinks, not anything like gasoline smells. DON'T get in in fuel lines or carbs, or any type of rubber. It will dissolve the rubber components.

Thanks for all the help. I had to go to town this morning so I got a gal of E 85 and put part of it in the tank when I got hope. Went out and cut so wood then checked the tank and it was spotless

I don't think it was as bad as I thought. Next time the grandkids come over they will be very happy to ride the snowmobile agian. This time drive it. It is a 1972 Johnson Skee Horse wide track. It is like new. I bought it from the ordinal owners son and the last time it was registered was 1972. The owner passed away after the first season season and it sat covered in a barn after all that time
