I seen those last time I was in town. I was hoping the store would put one on the display fixture so I could turn it on.
I am using 9, 300W incandescent bulbs in the shop now and would like to switch to led without changing fixtures.

I'd love to have a few of those. At $30 a pop or better, I don't think I will. They need a big reflector, or most of the light is gonna go the wrong way.

My first led screw in bulb was that corncob looking thing.
It sits in a closet somewhere in the tablelamp it occupied
long ago replaced with simple lookalike screw in bulbs that outperform it's exorbidant claims.

I put LED bulbs in the same category as horses. I don't hate 'em. I just have no use for 'em.

They are very bright and provide sideways illumination, not as much downward. If mounted sideways and with a reflector above them they would provide serious work bench light with just 1 of them. My neighbor has 3 of them and they should be high enough that they are not in one's line of sight. Jim

I work for a sign company. We use those to replace parking lot lights and sign lights that have reflectors. We replace sodium and metal halide bulbs that use ballasts and capacitors. It cheaper to replace with LED and lasts longer. I'm sure the ones we use are of a better quality than most eBay offerings.

My son just built a 30 X 40 garage with 12 ft ceiling, insulated and heated with 3/4 plywood walls to 4 ft height with sheet rock above,he still needs to finish sheet rock on the walls and ceiling so it is brown insulation which doesn't reflect much light. He has 1 led light that is about 18" square in the middle of the ceiling temporarily until he decides whether he likes it or not,it cost $100 at Home depot so he just bought 1. That thing is amazing you can't even look straight at it and it lights the hole garage pretty decent considering just 1 , he plans to get 3 more as he can afford it. At $100 bucks a pop I hope they last a long time. I have 3 double 4 ft led tube fixtures and 4 100 watt equivalent led bulbs in my 25 X 30 garage and it seems plenty bright even with bare stud walls and bare to the roof trusses. I used to have 4 300 watt incandescent bulbs and 3 double florescent lights before going to leds. I still have 3 300 watt bulbs in my attached garage I need to replace with 100 watt eq. leds.

My son works for a large sign company, as well, and he says the same thing.

On the downside (for them) he says the "bean counters" have noticed a definite drop in $$$ repeat service calls after a customer's signs have been changed over.

With the HPS or MH lamps, it's always SOMETHING, change the lamp, then come back in weeks or months 'cause a ballast or ignitor or another lamp has failed.

Also, the LEDS run MUCH cooler and cause less wear and tear on other parts.

I just replaced the 300w incandescents in our barns at work with that light bulb in the picture. I got them at Menards when on sale. You can actually see now

I put those in a 54x90x14 machine shed. One row down the middle. The 5000k light they give off is adequate and white but not exceptional. I don’t see anything wrong with them though.
