New wrinkle 18v Li aftermarket batteries.

Recently got some 18v 5000 ma aftermarket dewalt batteries.

When they are fully charged, the red blinking light should turn to solid red. Instead, the red light goes off and all the green led's on battery are glowing. During charging both the red and green lights blink.

The first time this happened I thought there was something wrong with charger.

Have you ever seen anything like this?

Bet they were made by Huawei and are waiting to "phone home" with your private information on those high kickback credit cards!

Ken,
What you said makes a lot of sense. My charger is designed for Li batteries. Ni-Cd chargers never shut off, so this battery is designed for any charger.

Hello RWT,

THAT NO trickle charger also applies to nickel methal hydrite battery too. Old nicad charger would revert to trickle charge, after regular charging.
I have not tested the yellow one yet, bet you does the same thing,

Guido.

Hello Guido,

I didn't know that. But I was aware of what the nicad chargers were doing.

I've not messed with nickel metal hydride batteries much. I know they peak a little different than nicad's but I've mostly had nicad and lithium polymer batteries. Radio control stuff.

I find your discussions interesting.

Hello RWT,
I have some NiMh 3000 mAh from my rc racing days. The also experience a slight memory effect, I guess that is the nickel part? DeWalt makes a charger that handles three type of batteries. I have one, but my guess is that they took a middle of the road approach to do that. Nothing like the proper charger for the type of battery. I do have another charger that is set for the type of battery that I charge. Here is one of the old NiMh 3000 mAh pack and the two chargers,

Guido.
