Hello,

Took a picture before they were all gone. A nice snack between meals,

The first time I tried that in my fireplace we didn't know that you're supposed to cut the shell a little first!

We had another couple visiting & we were all ducking exploding chestnuts for some time!
Merry Christmas,

Don't think I've ever had chestnuts, unless I didn't know what I was eating.

I know I've never roasted any, must be a regional tradition.

That fireplace looks amazingly like mine! Built mine about 6 years ago, mine is fake rocks.

Hello Bobcatz,

Not my first rodeo....HE! HE!. Yes they do need to have a relieve slice cut midway on one side, unless you want fire works!

Guido.

Hello Steve@Advance,

Chestnuts roasting on an open 🔥. I thought it was a national sung when I first heard it. I ordered the fireplace extra when the house was built. The old country house had one, only heat in the place,

Guido.

Ohhhh you got that right!!!! If you want to burn bamboo just run it over a couple of times and break the walls. It is really cool when you have some of that big bamboo that is almost the size of a pill bottle. KABANNNNG!! ;)

We usually roasted them in the oven till I learned about microwaving them. Been a while but about 30 seconds as I recall. Slit the shells and put about 1/2 inch of water in a bowl. They don't dry out, the shells slip right off and the fuzzy skin stays on with the shell.

Hello Mike(NEOhio),

I do some on the microwave too. On a plate and a paper towel. I use a cover that streams them, and peel easy,

Guido.

I may be strange, but I love chestnuts, but only raw. Tried cooking them once and never again. Not sure if it's the taste or the texture, but I didn't enjoy them at all.

Just made me remember the one and only time My mom and I tried roasting Chestnuts... I was like 8 or 9. Put them in the oven and we were watching TV, next thing I know it sounded like the Kitchen exploded. Opened the oven door, nothing left but schrapnel.... lol, didn't poke any holes in them and they exploded.
