Hello,

After 14 years of working, it blew a head gasket. While I have the head off, I will do the valves. Looks good in the cylinder bore. I need to get the surfaces flat now. The block is done, but the head is still in need of more TLC. I marked the block where the gadket went. Here are the pics,

Guido.

Note the place by the cast opening is way far between "head bolts." My original head gasket didn't last quite as long as yours due to forgetting to check for the annual mouse house one year. gm :-(

Hello Gary Mitchell,

Mine is pretty clean as far as mice stuff, however I was surprised how much dirt was sticking to the engine block. Crankcase bolts were loose where the wet spots where. I tighten them up already. Where the bolts were tight, the block was dry.

I found all the head bolts tight, but the gasket still blew. Block was not too badly out of flat. Head is another story,

Guido.

Hello Bob Harvey,

As you can see by the second head picture, it needs to get close to the sealing area.It is .003 off from flat I use a file to get it flat. That is how I did the block side,

Guido.
