10 gallon Gas Tank for Portable Generator

Does anybody know of a replacement gas tank for a portable generator that would hold about 10 gallons. I have a Powermate and a Chicago Electric 8000 generator. The 6 gallon tanks do not allow me enough of overnight run time. I'd prefer to be able to mount it to the generator, but if not would use it as a portable stand alone as long as there is a good way to hook it up.
Thanks,
Bill

There are a lot to choose from on Ebay, search "fuel cell".

I think I would mount it beside the generator and use a pulse type fuel pump. That would be safer than having fuel gravity feed in case there were a problem.

Check out these guys. They made model-specific extended runtime fuel tanks for generators.

Be careful

If your generator is like mine with a rubber line from tank to motor with a fuel shut off valve, a simple 12gallon portable boat tank set at a higher elevation and simply slipped onto the fuel fitting in place of the original gravity feed arrangement would suffice. The squeeze bulb inline can assist getting the siphon started.

Some of the generators sold now can be used with gas or propane I have a 330 propane tank just hook it up and let it run.

What is a pulse type fuel pump? My generator would run about 6 hours on a tank but I am going to have to get rid of it after moving.

Leror,A pulse fuel pump is a low pressure 12 volt electric fuel pump that has a spring loaded plunger with two valves that oscillates back and fourth pumping gas.

I converted my portable generator to propane. Best thing I did. It starts much easier in cold weather. Many folks have converted their old hit and miss engines over to propane also. I haven't asked any of them why but I would speculate it's much safer.

Seems like a good use for one of those gravity feed gas caddies to me. Strap it up on top of the generator, connect the hose to the carburetor, or fuel pump as the case may be.

I have read with that type you have to remove the choke, did you if you did how did it affect it with out a choke. I have a 8000 Winco Dyna 16 HP V-Twin Briggs I plan to convert to natural gas...

To the poster I have a 18 gal aluminum boat tank set up I have not had to use it yet just have it ready just encase...

Your gen must have a small tank most gens will use 1/2 gal are less per hour. I have never ran mine out My 7500 watt will use just a little over 4 gal in 10/11 hr. I think its a 5 gal tank...

If I needed to up-size and keep the tank on top of the gen I would go on ebay that's were I got the last one I replaced...

I have a Briggs & Stratton 8,000 watt generator with 7.5 gallon tank and it can run 9 hours at night and still have about 1/2 gallon at 9 hours of use. But at night the only things that use any electric is refrigerator ,freeze ,well, furnace, TV and lighting.
