posting on craigslist

I am planning on selling a car on Craigslist. Is it possible to list one ad and then copy it and list in another state ? Without making out seperate ads for each state. Thanks

I don't really think you can.On top of that though, they do prohibit cross-posting.Their explanation on that though has been kind of murky to me.I read that rule to mean, advertising the same item in different classifications. It has also been described to me as the same ad in different states. What I do is advertise the same thing using different wording, different title, maybe a different price, such as $650.in one ad and $625.in another.Things like,80 Chevy pickup in one ad,and 1980 C-10 truck in another.i only do this for ads in different states, not to advertise the same thing in a different class in the same state.

I think craigslist lightened up in an effort to stay more relevant, i know i have posted the exact same listing in different areas and no issues. i wouldnt worry about, just do it, if the craigslist gods arent happy you will know, modify from there

I don't know how to make multiple postings at one time. What I do is make up the add and post it. Then open another window and start a new add where you want to advertise. When it comes to the description part, I go back to the original add and copy and paste the description. That saves a lot of typing. You still have to download the pictures separately for the new add. Hope this helps. C-list only allows you to post a certain number of adds per day. If they start deleting your adds, wait until the next day.

Are you sure that craigslist should be your first option? I posted two items to that site and today I got 31 emails.I have been getting, on average, at least twenty a day. I do not think putting any email address in the ad is a very good idea.

I too noticed multiple state listings. One comes to mind......Ocean containers. I pass the time sometimes just looking at certain things in CL in different towns and states. A week ago I was looking at places in California and the same ad I had seen in the Dallas CL popped up. On communications, I read what others object to and won't accept and that tells me what not to do. Seems like ebay, all communications go through CL anyway.

Use what craigslist recommends. Don't put your email address or phone number. Respond only through craigslist. I tell them to send me their phone number and I'll call them back. I won't respond to their emails.

I use my cell phone no, it's a dumb phone, (flip) so there is no access to email or anything financial. I state phone calls prefered, works well for me.

CL does not allow cross posting. Your ad may sneak through or it may be flagged

"Can I post my ad on more than one craigslist site?
Please choose just ONE local craigslist site for which your ad is most relevant—generally the site closest to you."

Here is a partial list of goods, services, and content prohibited on craigslist:spam; miscategorized, overposted, cross-posted, or nonlocal content

The ocean containers are a little different story than you or I just posting things for sale. That outfit is an actual paying customer.I talked to them about a container, when I called they asked where I had seen their ad.If you look closely at their ads you will find where they are listed as a commercial advertiser.

I don't post my phone number anymore because an idiot will call at 2 am and think nothing of it.

I have posted on CL several times and on several (3 to 4) different city sites at the same time.
Both stuff for sale and wanted. Often times the EXACT same title and ad content, unaltered at all without issue.
But once in awhile you will get a popup window when clicking the final button that says not accepted due to posted earlier/elsewhere.
Then you merely change the title a bit and maybe rearrange the content of the ad.

Craigslist is free for us occasional non-commercial advertisers because the service is paid for by the "Dealer" ads and job postings.

After you search for something, you cn refine your search via the left column. And you can restrict your search to "owner" ads or "Dealer ads" or leave it on "both".
