Back in the late 90s I bought a new 16' land scape type trailer from TSC, it had tandem axels with brakes with break-away system.
After a few years I wondered how the battery was so I brought it inside for the winter. When I brought it in I checked the voltage, and it was good.
I used that trailer for a couple more years, then bought a new 20' flat bed trailer, same axels and weight rating. The new one had a button one the battery box you could push and check the voltage of the battery.
Both trailers had a 12 volt battery the size of a 6 volt lantern battery.
The new break-away system would charge the battery while in use. But it discharges the battery when not in use, unless I remember to unplug in when not in use.
Is this typical, or is there something wrong with it?
