Fruit fly trap- If I only had a brain

Gf brought a pineapple over and ever since then the fruit fly population has been increasing. I had taken the Saran wrap out to the garage and I have not remembered to buy more at the store. I attempted to make a trap with a bread bag over a Deli container, but they don't like to use it. I had a 4 pack of Apple Danish. The flys found them. So I used my vacuum to suck them out of the container and then release them outside. It is 2 degrees this morning and I took the container outside and released them, without using the vacuum. That is easier by far. The nice thng about using the vacuum is that I can catch some that are outside the container and also get some as they fly around the kitchen.

Set out some shallow dishes with a "special" drink for them. Use water and some lemon-scented dish soap. If you don't have lemon-scented dish soap, can use other dish soap with lemon juice, or possibly some other strong citrus smell. When they go to the water, soap kills them.

I now have three traps set out and they are all getting some fly s. I think for them to work better someone needs to clean the kitchen to reduce their food sources. Now where is that mirror.

Every time we get bananas, end up with very small flies in the house. Gets to where I hate buying ANYTHING from produce department sometimes!

We have a platter on top of a counter that all the apples, bananas, oranges etc are kept on.

Yes the fruit flies know where to find it.

Daughter took a small water bottle put in a little sugar water in it and laid it on it's side on the platter, problem solved in a few days.

I sometimes have some red wine w/supper while on the computer and in the summer and fall would get fruit flies buzzing around the wine and the light from the monitor. Drive me nuts.

I tried putting some watered down wine in a cup with a few drops of soap in it but they were not too interested in that. This fall I put some red wine vinegar is a cup with a few drops of soap and just left it setting near the kitchen sink a couple of days. They all disappeared and when I dumped out the cup a week later there was a dead fly sludge on the bottom. Now that winter is here hard, should be good for the season.

Get some SANI-STICKS at your local store and put one down each sink drain in your home, the get a ball jar and punch or drill small holes in lid and put a little red vinegar in it and you will get them all pretty quick
