"Sears and Stanley Black & Decker will begin selling competing tools under the Craftsman label.
In 2017, Stanley bought the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings Corp. and the deal allowed both companies to continue making and selling products under the Craftsman label. Now, the drill or toolbox that was purchased could come from either Sears or Stanley, depending on the place of purchase.
Consumers will continue to see the Sears version of Craftsman in Sears and Kmart stores, as well as Sears Hometown and Outlet. Everywhere else, including Lowes and Ace Hardware, will begin to see Stanley's take on the brand...
In order to avoid brand confusion, Stanley stated that both companies have agreed to set a brand of standards and guidelines to differentiate the products, both resulting in high-performance standards, no matter where the product was purchased...
Not only will Stanley seize the opportunity to expand the Craftsman reach, the company noted that the red color scheme will remain the same"

I don't think you will see Sears or KMart selling anything the way the company is going. Both companies are not making then
because Sears has never manufactured any thing . They have every thing build by who ever with their name on it. The tools
are all going to be built by Stanley Black & Decker.

B&D is the parent company the recently merged with
Stanley and they make many good brand name tools in
their new plant in CHINA. They even make my favorite
brand Dewalt tools in China, ship the parts to the
US so they can claim assembled in the USA on the
box.

I really with they would ship the factories back to
US. That said, I think China can make some good
quality tools in the B&D factory.

Are their any brand name tools, including power
tools, made in the US?

Pay attention to who you vote for, and manufacturing WILL come back to the U.S.A.

Only if you're willing to pay $300 for a basic cordless drill. Or have TV sets starting at $1000 and going up from there.

People have the wrong idea about WHY manufacturing is done overseas now. It's not because a bunch of people who hate America decided to move it there. It's because it's CHEAP and that's what consumers want and it's profitable and that's what business owners and shareholders want.

How come El Presidente isn't starting up a necktie and MAGA trinket factory in the USA? I think we all know why.

When all the slum head junkies make 4X the money dealing drugs in the projects who's gonna be the workforce?
Work ethic and attitude count a lot.
Chinese workers see the dream
US work force hates working and dreams of ways around it.
Or for many just find the need to sabotage for the win.
Oh well

So now, you can buy any brand of tool you want, all at the same store? Just like clothes washers and dryers, kitchen stoves and refrigerators, etc., etc. The brand name no longer matters. They are all built in the same factory.

Well that?s just confusing......

Craftsman is a label, put on tools used to be manufactured for Sears.

Now it?s going to be 2 labels, one in the very few remaining Sears stores, and the other craftsman label but different tools in all other stores?

Yikes.

I thought Lowe?s got in on the ground floor of sponsoring craftsman tools, which was also confusing because they already have their Kobalt
store brand.

Oh well, I kinda got most of the tools I need at my age, and for Chinese stuff a Harbor Frieght opened up a couple years ago not too far away
so I?m good.

The only difference in the "brand standards" will maybe be in finishes and packaging.
The B&D/Stanley factories making them is not going to spend the money for tooling of multiple "brand standards".

B&D merged with Stanley nearly 9 years ago.

B&D/Stanley has factories all over the world.

Went to set one up in Brazil back in the 1990's.

Even Metabo has built a plant in China in the last year or two.

I try to buy US manufactured things when I can. As you point out, with power tools there's no choice I'm aware of except China or Germany or Mexico.

My 4" B&D angle grinder was made in the US. Bought it at Wal-Mart.....in the 90's.

The Chinese *can* build anything as good as we can....if someone is setting the specs and doing diligent QC.

My cow trailer has Chinese tires that were on there when I bought it. They are over 10 years old but have almost no weather cracking. On the other hand I've seen Chinese made tractor front tires that were cracking severely after only two years.

Both Sears and K Mart will be gone in less than a year. Both stores are gone here(Sears closed, and K Mart is selling out now) and both were making money, just the home company is not making money. I will be surprised if they are open in April. Quincy IL

they're currently in bankruptcy if they live or die is all up to the deals they get in the re-organizing process

I doubt that the deals will matter much in the long run because they have already made themselves irrelevant. They are not going to go back to selling US-made stuff, so forget about them.
