What is the proper way to do a leak down test on a 2 cycle engine. What pressure would you use.

Block off intake and exhaust, and pulse port to carburetor if it has one, pressurize crankcase, My only specs are from a Husqvarna manual, pressurize to 10 psi, should not leak below 7 psi in a minute.

Someone on here a while back said to also test with 10" vacuum. I would guess it should not go below 7" in a minute. They were saying some seals leak air in but not out.

wsmm,
I had the spark plug on one cylinder of a kohler command that would carbon up. I bought a leak down test kit. Both good and bad cylinder showed good. Compression test on both cylinders showed the same.

I pulled the head off bad cylinder, ground the valves, and solved the problem.

I have little confidence in a leak down test.
