Hitachi power tools

I have had only two Hytachi battery powered tools, a 1/2” impact and a 3/8” drill. The handle grip broke on both of them when they were dropped. I like the way they handle, especially the impact wrench but they aren’t made out of sturdy enough stuff to stand up to the real world.

I have a few Hitachi tools.

Angle grinder = over 12 years .

10" compound mitre saw = 6+ years. I like it for crown moldig and trim work for it will mitre to 52 degrees.

12" sliding mitre saw = 5 +years old.

1/2" hammer dril = 3+ years. Like it better than the Dewalt it replaced.

I have never had a problem with any except the 10" mitre saw. The thin friction ring under the table wore through on one end which made it hard to rotate. Removed it and all is good.

Every power tool I have bought made by them came with a new set of brushes in the box. Cant say if that is still the case. But it is nice to have an extra set on hanx if needed.

Metabo (best known for top end grindsrs) are made and owned by Hitachi.

All of my corded power tools will be replaced with Hatachi when they wear out if possible.

Only Hitachi power tool I have is a 4.5" angle grinder. It is excellent!!! I've had it about 15 years now and done a huge amount of work with it.

One thing to watch for is that there are homeowner grade tools and pro grade tools in their lineup. If you buy their $40 grinder at Lowes it will be much different than the $90 version you buy from a pro tool supplier.

I've got a Hitachi compound miter saw and a Hitachi cordless drill and driver set. They are both good, but Dewalt makes a better miter saw and Milwaukee makes a better cordless tool (they are both more expensive than the Hitachi also)

I bought a new Hitachi 3/8 electric drill and was bad right out of box I took it back to store to exchange it for another and all the other ones had same problem. I ended up buying a DeWalt 3/8 drill .

Quality wise they're pretty good, but some of their stuff isn't ergonomically friendly. Unless they've changed their design, their cordless drill fall into that latter category.

18v drill,it lasted about 6 months of very light use and I have never got any warranty out of them. The plastic gears stropped drilling a hole.
