Still another battery question

Bought a new battery for the 3020. The acid level is not up to the "full" line in the cells
Is this a concern? I would not think it prudent to add water to a new battery. Should I get some acid and fill properly?

If Mother Deere does like Ford/New Holland used to we got our annual stock order batteries dry because they had a much longer shelf, the the lowest paid shop guy would fill them as needed, then as below you were supposed to recheck fill level after a while (couple hours as I recall). It looks like your guy might not have rechecked them.

if its charged up and a bit low adding bottled water is fine. years ago had to add distilled water because was no bottled water and well water had too much iron in it.

HELLO Rogeriniowa,

Charge the battery first, then you can add distilled water. This will prevent overfilling the battery, as the electrolyte will expand some during the charging process. Any level above the cells is all its needed,

Guido.

I recently read that a new battery should be put on a charger before installing. I bought a battery yesterday for a PU and put it on the charger. It read 50%. It took several hours to come up tp 100%

I read some place that Deere is doing away with the dry charged batteries and will now only be stocking wet charged batteries.

I would leave it low. It may come up some when it gets up to full charge.

As long as the plates are covered it doesn't "have to be" up to the indicators. In fact, I have found batteries used for off road that get a lot of jarring and vibration will stay a lot cleaner on top if allowed to run a little below the rings.

It will find it's own level and likely never need any top up as long as the charging system is working and it doesn't need external charging.

mother Deere has been dead just about 200 years I?m almost positive she?s never had a thing to do with the batteries her sons compay sells or sold . Ford new Holland doesn?t exist anymore it?s all fiat junk now

No, the acid stays in the battery and the water evaporates making it more concentrated. Adding acid would just make it more concentrated. Water would keep the balance right.
