Looks like a green habanero to me, if so, it'll turn a yellowest orange. If you bite into it, it'll burn your hair off your chest, joking.

I agree with Wayne. Looks just like the habaneros I have out in my garden and will turn orange when ripe. I make habanero gold jelly with the ones I grow. First bite taste great. 2nd bite you feel and the 3rd bite it bites you back

Looks like a Bishop's crown pepper or maybe Brazilian starfish, both of those are similar and go from green to orange then red. Neither of them are real hot but should be somewhere between the hotter side of jalapenos to a serrano pepper. Does it smell fruity at all, or taste sweet?

It's not a habanero species which would be much hotter than this one. What's surprising is habanero peppers are pretty mild compared to many other peppers out there.

Whatever pepper it might be, go ahead and eat it and let us know how it goes. It will be mildest when green, they only get hotter if they change colors. Just remember the hot ones will burn you 3 times if you know what I mean.
