Farmall H oils

What kind of oil do i use in the hydralic oil resivour on a farmall h? The manual says motor oil. But is hydralic oil ok ? I am new to this old tractor sport.

Universal tractor hydraulic fluid works just fine. That is what I use in 2 Hs and 1 M.

Same here, almost any oil will work on that unit.

Frankly, on both of my H's I just dump in whatever I have handy, from engine oil to hydraulic oil. Doesn't seem to make any difference to the tractor.

If you are using it on equipment that is only used with that tractor, putting engine oil in it is OK, but probably not best. CaseIH Hytran, or JD Hyguard fluids are best. Any oil that is labeled to meet those specs is also OK, Don't listen to the sales staff, read it on the label. Jim
