I've never seen that one before, but I would hazard a guess that it could be used to rake down ear corn.

NO that is not a rake used for ear corn,i used those for years when i ran a corn sheller for a fellow, corn rakes and power corn rake augers, they would be outlawed now days. those rakes had long teeth on them. lot longer than the old heavy lawn rakes to, need to go measure still have hanging in shed,6 to 8 inches long teeth guessing.

My old Uncle used a very similar one for seed beds , mainly lettuces . Lettuce seeds are so fine they really only need raking in a little , hence the short teeth . Once the seeds were covered he would turn the head over and use the curved profile to smooth and press the surface .

(quoted from post at 19:53:17 06/07/15) the ear corn rakes I have used looked like a fork bend to 90 degrees
That bent pitch fork was used around here, was for unloading chopper wagons with false end gates. This was before the self unloading wagons.

My parents hade a rake like the one shown, as did several neighbors. They were referred to as "crab grass" rakes. I never used it, but remember it being used on the lawn. What ever it accumulated was picked up and removed to a pile of yard waste. This was in the mid to late 50"s.
