this magneto magnet charger any good?

I've been watching for a charger to charge rotary magnets in Fairbanks magnetos.

This guy has sold a few magneto chargers like the one in the photo on ebay.

The poles are mounted on a pine board. I would think it needs an iron base to connect the to poles together?

Had a unit similar to that at the place I worked. I could not tell a differance afterusing it ?

No, the magnet charger should NOT have an iron or steel base.

The Fairbanks magneto has a permanent magnet and does not need to be recharged as part of a rebuild. If you wanted to recharge them, you will need a much more powerful charger than that one. That charger will work fine for magnetos with non-permanent (horseshoe) magnets.

Thanks for the info. I have two or three fairbanks magnetos off WC, WD tractors and the magnets are very weak. Weak magnets seem to be a problem with FM magnetos.
