Foam mattress

Well you can't get a lot of wrenching done without a good night's sleep. We got a new posturepedic type about 16 months ago. After about fourteen months I was waking up with hip pain because I sink down into it so much. The foam has gotten very soft on both sides where I sleep and because we rotate it as we are supposed to. They sent a Mattress Marshall to do tests and take pictures. They say that the mattress is OK but that the foundation needs to be replaced. Another problem is that it is so hot in the summer. Any one else have problems with one of these?

The foam is a heat sink that absorbs your body heat for awhile and then feeds the heat back to you later, which makes it hot for you. A lot of people have learned that and gotten rid of foam mattress. Some people don't mind it, especially in the wintertime, but others don't want it at all.

We have had our about 2 months, and so far we still love it. We didn"t get the foundation, just put our on the box springs. So far my back is better then it has been in ages.

My wife has the foam matress cover on her side only. I dont like it cause it is like trying do it in quicksand.

We only tried the memory foam pillows (lost them in a hurry). It was like putting your head on an electric heating blanket...way too hot. Nasty stuff, really holds heat. Cannot imagine a whole mattress of it - that would be like sleeping in a roaster oven.

We love our Tempur-Pedic! It cured my backaches and is the most comfortable mattress I ever had.

However, it cost more than lots of the cars I have owned, and it is warm. We keep our bedroom almost cold all year and also have a thick pad over the mattress. I don"t know how I would like it in Summer if my house didn"t have air conditioning.

Would I buy it again? I sure would! I sleep better and get up more rested than I did before we got it. Costly, but probably worth it, considering I spend about 1/3 of my time using it.

Like Hal, I have the Tempurpedic Advanced Eco System (Adjustable). I have the Rhapsody, which is a bit more firm than their other models. Should have done it 20 years ago.
We put a small mattress pad over it, and heat has not been an issue.
It ain't cheap, but like was stated, you spend a third of your life in bed... Don't compromise if you don't have to.
Had it for about 8 months now.

Just short of 7 years. It still feels as comfortable as when we got it.

I thought of one more little problem. When we first got the bed, it gave off some kind of fumes, like plastic or chemicals, that really bothered us. But after a few days out of the wrapper, the odor receded and after a couple of weeks I could not smell anything. I remember thinking at the time that when a manufacturer sells a product that is that expensive, THEY should do what is necessary to be able for the customer not to have to deal with that bad odor. Ours nearly went back...and I am glad we decided to give it some time.

If I had it to do over again, I would absolutely buy the Tempur Pedic bed again. It"s a good one!

have had a Certa foam mattress for about 5-6 years and love it, before got up with stiff neck and aching hips, feel better now (too old to feel great) have A/C so dont notice any heat issues, BIL has on goin on 3 years, has had back surgery, says it helps more than regular but he is in pretty bad shape
