Hose repair

Does anyone have a decent type of water hose end that they prefer? I have a couple hoses that need new ends and I am not a fan of either of the two main types. I find that this type: http://www.fdsons.com/images/L&G/s3/6427777.JPG never seals quite right for me and this type: http://www.fdsons.com/images/L&G/s3/0267922.JPG the tail of the hose clamp always gets in the way.

Short of a hydraulic crimper does anyone have any solutions they prefer?

Had the same experience you did with the first type. On the second type, install it and wrap duct tape around the sharp parts. Replace duct tape as needed.

I like the plastic ones and I re-use them. Nelson is one brand.

The local Napa store will crimp new ends on.

The Nelson or Gilmour repair kits for hose ends have always worked well for me. Some of them after being out in the sun for years will break down eventually and need replacing. If you have one that won't go into the hose like it should, get some water hot in a pan on the stove and warm the hose end before putting the repair fitting on .

I use a lot of short hoses to water the flower gardens here with soaker hose. I use the cheap plastic ones from wally world = $ .99 each. The thing to do when you put the ends on is get them hot (/i just put them in hot water) and clamp them on. Works for me
