Air compressor

I plan on painting my 1951 MH 30 after i restore the engine and body but i dont have a paint gun or an air compressor do any of you have an idea of a cheap reliable set up like compressor, regulator, and gun for under 250 dollars

For any kind of spray painting, using a good spray gun, you will need a good supply of air for the job. That is determined by the rating of CFM, which means cubic feet(of air pressure) per minute.
For most spray guns that can do a good job, in the hands of a semi-professional painter, there are several good ones available.
When i was working in the auto body business, we could buy spray guns that came from the Far East, cost around $45-60, and worked well. I used them for all of my refinishing of cars/ trucks. A name brand cost way more than that!
The air compressor should put out a lot of Cubic feet per minute. (More than 6 CFM!) And that kind isn't cheap! And then there is the problem of a paint mask. Those little white paper masks should NOT be used for spraying paint, especially if you have added a hardener to the paint. (Ask me how i know!)
Might i suggest going to an auto body shop supplier, and asking that place what you need.

Why not just rent everything you need. It would be a lot less than $250. You don't want some cheap compressor crapping out on you half way through the job. Make sure to drain the compressor and use a water filter on the line. If you go to the painting and bodywork forum, you'll get the best advice.

The cast iron portion can all be done using a good quality brush, and yes, it WILL turn out very well. The sheet metal can be painted with rattle cans. Rattle cans work very well on a tractor because there just isn't that much sheet metal to cover. I own everything needed to apply paint with a spray gun but I very rarely use it because of the time and hassle of getting everything ready to go, and then spending even more time cleaning everything up when done.
