I need a quality 1/2" corded hammer drill. Is ther any brand that is not made in CHINA???

I have used a Bosch for quite a few years with good results. As far as I know they are not China made, but you never know from day to day that can change.

I bought a New Milwaukee Hammer drill, Made in Checkoslavkia, spelling is wrong. $170 or so at Home Depot.

I would have bought the Bosch but.....The standard half inch keyed chuck was optional at $40 extra. And the Bosch was made in Germany I think.

The Dewalt is made in Mexico, The Ridgid is made in China.

I recommend the Milwaukee.
Enough torque to break your wrist.
9 amps too I think.
Have fun.

Just buy you one and throw away when necessary. Good luck finding anything that has NOTHING made or assembled in china.

I have an older Black and Decker 1/2" Hammer Drill made in some place in New York state USA. I prefer to use my newer Makita 1/2" Hammer Drill which was made in Japan.

I recently did research for the same reason.
Buy a rotary hammer, not a hammer drill.
Yes, there is a difference. Mark

There hasn't been a country named Czechoslovakia since 1992 when it split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic. If it says "Made in Czechoslovakia" then it's either not new, or it's not true. Or it's a strange mistake.

We ahve a couple of older Milwaukees at the shop, still made in the US. They are indestructible and will absolutely run rings around any thing newer. I would look for something older at a yard sale if I wanted another one.

I am considering a Rotary Hammer Drill (Concrete Drill). I am aware of the advantages over a hammerdrill but I am wondering if you can purchase Metal or wood cutting bits. If not, why is there a setting on most concrete drills for rotation only?
I am remodeling my basement and will be drilling a lot of concrete.

I have mostly Makita rotohammers...dont have a "hammerdrill" a true hammerdrill is this side of worthless....

My Big roto hammer ( up to 2 1/2" bit) is a bosch. I bought at a rental store used for $400.00. That was a steal as it is a $1200 drill new. The Makitas will do your needs. A true Rotohammer will use a SDS bit...has grooves to "pop" into the chuck.

(quoted from post at 06:47:59 01/25/11) None of mine are, all used when I bought them.
I guess I will just have to buy used. Can't find any made in any country except Communist China or Check. Republic.
I had rather have a used American made tool then any New Communist made one.
