It was in my press and failed to pump up,,, if you short stroked it for awhile it would catch and do the job one time no problem,,, full of oil... I removed it and took out the release and pump and flushed it well,,, got some rust and junk out of it,,, put it back together bleed it and it worked one time great but back to have'n to short stroke it to make it work,,, I could not get the Allen plugs out it has 2 of'em,,, I would break the A wrench try'n,,, I know I am gonna have to get at the check balls to do a better clean'n are replacement of the intake check ball,,, I am sure the check ball for the piston side is OK,,, I think it pulls the fluid into the pump on the up?intake stroke but does not check it off and pushes it back into the reservoir,,, I have 2 other jacks do'n the same thing,,, I spec I have outlived them :D and the rust is the big issue... Chines jack is look'n good rite now and wondering if my time is worth it,,, any tips on the Allen plugs are were the check valve/balls might B...

If you were using hydraulic jack oil in it there should be very little rust. They are pretty much sealed from any material getting in unless they left something open. If you can pump it up to the full length or close. Then turn it upside down and open release valve and force it back down. This may dislodge some of the junk loose.

The check balls are under plug thats oppiste release stem. If pump plunger seal, ucup gets worn itll suck air instead of oil.

I brought this press at a local city auction 10 years ago,,, it was lay'n on the ground in the rain for who knows how long  it has works great up till last week,,, I spec i caused problems with the other jacks cuzz I keep them clean,,, wash'em off if they get dirty...

I applied a little heat to the Allen plugs and they came rite out,,, cleaned and replaced both check balls and still a no go,,, both replies are probably rite,,,, now do I spend $75 for a kit are just replace it with china junk for less....

If it were mine, I'd bite the bullet and go for the rebuild kit. Then you'll have something that is American-made, from when that really meant something. Anybody can buy Harbor Freight/Chinese-made crap, and nobody is surprised or complains [u:31e5cf37bc]when[/u:31e5cf37bc] (not [i:31e5cf37bc]if[/i:31e5cf37bc]) something breaks or bends after only a few uses...

If you don't want it, write me (e-mail is open) and I'll send you my mailing address and some $$$ to cover your shipping costs.

If we don't save this stuff, who will?

Another trick you may want to try. Drain out all the old oil you can. (Let drain for a day). Refill with Diesel and try using it several times. Pull the ram up, force down, etc. Then drain, maybe flush again, etc. After all the Diesel is drained, refill with a good Hydraulic Jack Oil. (Do not use brake fluid!)

TheLincoln jack is a "WALKER", (Purchased by
Lincoln), They were notorious for valve trouble.
I've used ball bearings brased to brass rod, as
lapping tools, with fine lapping compound, to
polish corrosion from the valve seats, then
flushed the seats...but i've only done it on
disassembled jacks. You have to find the correct
size balls, or can get them from a junk jack.
All 1-1/2 thru 12 ton Walkers, (lincoln) used the
same size valve balls.

One is 1/8" and the other 5/16,,, I had the 5/16 but not a new 1/8",,, balls did look good as did the seat but that don't mean nuttin,,, next step is to disassemble the beach,,, I have cleaned, flushed and messed with it better part of a day....

When the jack failed I was press'n out some Honda control arm bushings,,, the pump went limp,,, the jack still had pressure on it and was holding tight... For as long s I have had it the jack would not compress the piston all the way,, you had to hit the bottom of the press frame to drive the piston the last few inches,,, I made some extra adapters so I could extent the press push rod so it was not much of a issue...

The last inch are so of push'n the piston in does have more resistance than it should,,,, probably rust,,, Now if i remove the pump piston and blow compressed air into the pump bore with the release valve shut it will not go up,,, it does bubble out the top of the ram piston,,, never leaked their,,, does not look good for the home team... I am still lean'n toward the pump pulls the fluid in but pushes it rite back into the reservoir....

Never had to add oil,,, it had enuff seepage over time to b just a tad oily at the base of the jack,,, will keep the lap'n trick in mind thanks... Trash is my enemy for sure....

I took the jack apart late this afternoon,,, the bottom was full of rust and had the intake port blocked,,, so went farther and pulled the ram piston,,, the cup (like a brake wheel cylinder cup) had came apart in 20 pieces are so I spec the cup was the issue… Soooo lets see what $75.00 will buy,,, I spec not much but what do you do they gotcha…

The reservoir had rite much rust above the vent so I spec thats were the rust came from cuzz all the rest of it looks clean… I will blast that and coat it with grease before assy… I took some pix but that will not load for some reason .

I would really recommend you not buy a china jack. I had one explode. I had just jacked up a loaded grain cart, with a new jack, right out of the box, 20 ton jack. I had just got up and took 2 steps when the darn thing exploded, schrapnell went everywhere. From then on bought american made. Got them from a place that supplied stuff to the local tire shops.

(quoted from post at 05:16:54 11/09/10) Try hydraulic jack inc in accord ny for kit to fix it.

The kits are no longer available unless someone has a old kit on the shelf,,, I called a place in Greensboro,NC for the ell of it,,, he says he probably has the cup so gonna have my son check him out tomorrow,,, he's gotta check in at collage their any ways,,, the hydraulic shop is in site of the collage :D

He told me he got 3 1/2 hr. to rebuild one,,, I spec I could do it in a hr. now that I know whats wrong with it.... I do understand the time cuzz I spec some eat yer lunch and once you work on it you marry it.... If that lead does not work out I will order a kit from a on-line vender are call your place...

I am past the skeered part so will tackle the other jacks when I get this one work'n...

Just got the card to read,,, had to dump the dirty pix  of the jack that izz,,, so this is what the inside of a bottle jack looks like cleaned up...

struck out on the cheap parts,,, guy did look at it and said fix it for sure,,, just ordered the parts from the blackhawk parts site...

Here's what 80 bucks will buy ya...
