Hey folks,
just wondering what they are called and what they cost in your area.

Got one on ebay 3 or 4 years ago for 5 bucks. Wore (abused) it out ad wanted one the other day and couldn't find anything cheaper than 30 bucks. Think they are the best thing since sliced bread so will take care of this one.

I got one from Harbor Freight and liked it so much I bought
another one when it got a little dull. They're under $10 and they are
very good quality compared to most of the trash they sell as tools.
I have very mixed views on HF, but the saw is good.

I bought one made in japan years ago which is still very sharp and useful. I treat it like I would any other fine instrument. They are not meant to cut nails and concrete. Thinking I"d like to buy American I bought one branded as a Stanley. It was junk and of course it was made further west than japan.
I got another at a garage sale which was very dull and I have yet to see if I can get it sharpened. Seems like the saw shop would have a way to sharpen these by now.

Howdy,
I have 2, one for general purpose and one small dove tail type. I use them all the time and have not dulled them yet (5years use).
I also buy them for gifts (birthday,Christmas, etc.)whenever I see a friend, relative, trying to use a dull worn out hand saw that their grampa left behind. Usually cost $20 to $25 for a decent one, I'm sure you could spend $100 or more at woodworkers supply.

brings back memories of my time in the service was using hacksaw to cut something when my old chief walked up said do it like the japenese they put the blade in backwards and cut on the backstroke. that"s been a long time ago.
