Decent torching goggles...

I wear trifocal glasses and my eyesight ia affected by diabetes so it is not real good. The goggles you mention ,I can not use ,no wqay. Instead I went to my Gas supplier and asked if there is a solution to my sight problem and still be able to see decently to use my cutting torch. In about 10 minutes he had me fitted with a carbonate full face sheild of proper darkness to be able to use the torch, cut steel and see what I was doing. No way will I go back to trying to use goggles to protect my eyes when useing a cutting torch.Costs around $40.00 and worth every penny.

I like the hard plastic frames with the standard size lens. Fibre Metal has them and so does Jackson. The Jackson unigoggle II is the best but seem harder to find. They use an elastic cloth that is way better than the cheap straight elastic band, that most have, for holding them on. If you don't mind spending a little more, you can get the Fibre Metal ones mounted to the same head gear as their welding helmets. They are the ultimate but cost around $50. You can also get dark face shields suitable for O/A welding and cutting. The soft flexible green goggles are junk! Dave

I haven't used goggles in 10 years. Mabey more...
Really, all I use now is a pair of full coverage wrap around sunglasses. Sometimes the auto darkening helmut.... and honestly, sometimes nothing.
Glasses seem to work best for me and you can get actual darkened safety glasses. Just remember than nothing is perfect... so be carefull at the best of times.

I use shade 3 or 5 safety glasses. Much easier to use than goggles. Last pair I bought from mcmaster carr. Its not the same protection as goggles but most of the time its enough.

If I need more protection I use my autodark helmet but it has a setting for torching.

yep, gotta agree with you, the full face shield won't fog up and you can get clear lenses as well as a shade 5 (which is what you need for cutting). Protects the entire face instead of just the eyes AND if you wear glasses like me, it permits much better vision. All welding supply stores carry them, I think you can also buy them @ Tractor Supply but I'm not sure about that. Keith

That was on my Christmas list last year- tired of adjusting worn out elastic strap, fogging, etc. Under $30 at local welding supply, shade 5. Easy to adjust for head size as the auto-darken helmet. Pre-shopped, gave the better half exact part numbers.
