Problem is this.......I've replaced the spark plug, added a new fuel pump- $52.00, there's fresh gas in the gas tank, and it turns over as it always has, except that it's NOT firing. .....The coil ????.....The coil only costs about >>>$240.00<<< from John Deere, BUT i CAN'T THINK OF ANY ANY OTHER REASON FOR IT NOT STARTING........Any other ideas from anyone with knowledge is welcome. Thanks, gatorhide

did you check for spark at the spark plug while cranking and the spark plug was grounded???
If you have spark it is not the coil.
if the plug is wet it is getting fuel if the valves are too tight it wont start> (low on compression) If the valves are sre correct, does the engine have compression?? install gauge and check the spec. probably round 200psi. while cranking and throttle held wide open.
confirm or deny ! hope this helps

Do you have spark out of coil wire? If not do you have power at coil while cranking?Power to coil key on? disconect wire coil to dist recheck power post result. a simple test light makes this job easy

I got the fuel pump from John Deere. If I end up needing the coil, I will also have to get that from John Deere as well @ $240.00
The seat I've never seen for sale by itself.
I can take the exact measured size for you from mine if you want and post that here for you.

It's only a plywood seat, topped with cushion foam and then a heavy black vinyl type seat cover.
Do you want me to take the measurements off of mine for you ?

Gatorhide . I have the seat ( whats left of it) I have basically the wood bottom where the 2 screws mount it to base. I am going to try an Upholstery guy next town over. Maybe you can give me an idea how far up they come with the foam ? I imagine the backs a little higher than the front . Thanks for the help . Merry X-Mas ...

Anther problem can be the end of the plug wire will burn away from the connector. You can take the plastic boot off and cut an 1/8 off of the wire and put it back together.

Hey LumbrJakMan, ....I'll be glad to take the measurements of the seat for you, I'm not around the machine right now, but I'll get it for you by tomorrow. Thanks, gatorhide

Hey LumbrJakMan, I got the measurements off of the AMT 600 seat for you.
These are approximate measurements, but are very close.
In the front the width across is: 4 1/2 inches.
In the rear the width across is: 13 inches.
The length from front to rear is: 16 inches.
The height in the back of the seat is: 6 inches.
The foam cushion is: 4 inches thick.
The plywood bottom appears to be: 3/4 inch.

Let me know if I can help you with any other questions about it, Thanks for asking. gatorhide
