Concrete block paint

I have a shop built out of concrete blocks and there is a long concrete block retaining wall that connects to it.
I have pressure washed the shop and wall and I now need to paint or stain.
What will give the best, longest lasting, covering for concrete blocks?

I usually use a latex primer followed by latex topcoat. Never had any problems with it coming off. But you have to use the primer or the block will keep absorbing the top coat.

There are a lot of products for painting masonry out there, check the product data and specifications carefully, so that the existing masonry you intend to paint is compatible with the paint materials you intend to use. On large jobs it was always spray applied, primer first, but all depends on the substrate (existing masonry wall). New or unpainted masonry will absorb moisture rapidly, as well as a moist wall may not allow the material to bond, surface prep and following the manufacturers instructions are important.

You might want to consider white portland ,
white stone dust ( white sand ) ,mixed 2 1/2
to 3 : 1 , and applied with a cheap HF texture
gun. It makes a white finish nearly as bright
as paint and is quite durable ,also can be
painted over later to brighten the shop.
I did all 4 walls inside in the little 20 X
40 addition with a bag and a half of white
portland and white stone dust , that was 10
years ago and it it still bright in there. I
did 1 wall in the new room ( 24 X 50 ) last
year and also will do the out side of the
new room and some of the big shop (front ).

Looks good Bill. How many gallons of paint will the 10# of cement plus the lime make? It doesn't really say except a gallon will cover 200 sq. feet.
