Harbor Freight AC Guage Set

I'm thinking of buying one of these.

Anyone here ever use one. Are they any good.
It would only get used once or twice a year.

For the amount of usage and considering
that it would be bought at Harbor Freight
is it safe and is it worth buying.

Go for it . At that price you will do fine. Hard not to buy minimally used tools from them. They will do good for occasional use like you intend.

Fellow had trouble with imports faking his ac gauges.Copied his box and phone number.Trouble was they didnt work.A squirt of refrigerant in the eye will ruin your day.

That the set we have.. You will need to get an r-134 can tap as it manifold set doesn't come with one. Ours get used maybe 3-4 times a year and it now about 3 years old. Still working great.

They also carry an evacuation pump. I didn't buy one as a friend of mine has one but my friends $280 one looks awfly close to that $90 one from HFT.

Just your normal neighborhood chain auto parts store. I've seen them at Autozone and Checker Autoparts (aka. Kragen,shucks, and now Orielys).

There are two kinds.. One kind screws onto the top and puts a hole in the top and the other grabs the side of the can and punches a hole there. I can't say which is better but shops that use the small cans seem to use the side tap kind. My guess is because it is much quicker to change the can with those.

We got an O'Reilly's over in town so I'll have to get one.
