Hello all. I am new to this forum. actually new to any forum. hopefully I can figure out ways to navigate. I have a 2HP root and Vandervoort triumph horizontal hit and miss. I was wondering how fast to set the cylinder oiler drip rate? The engine will not be working hard, Mostly low RPM (loafing) at shows. I don't want to have too little lubrication obviously, but I also don't want an oily mess if not necessary.

It will be interesting if there are some other replies/ideas here.

4 - 6 drops a minute seems to be a common suggestion for larger engines doing work.

For you little engine just putzing along I'm thinking one or two drops a minute should be enough.

I use 30 wt and 15-40 in my drip oilers.
Does not seem to matter.
Just get the drip numbers where you want them.

I use Valvoline VR-1 20-50. With it running at show speed, carefully put your finger at the rear and on top of the cylinder
and when the piston is at the bottom of the stroke there should be a smidgen of oil on your finger. The 20-50 sticks real
well and doesn't get the engines all messy. I'm sure others will question the sanity but it has worked for me for 38 years!
